11 Lessons 9/11
1- Americans United cannot be defeated
2- The best legacy for all of the fallen is to fight terror wherever it lives
3- We must take care of all medical needs for those that worked “the pile”
4- Those that jumped should be remembered, not judged
5- The flight attendants should be honored as the first who tried to stop the madness
6- The heroes on Flight 93 saved countless lives by stopping a direct hit on the Capitol or White House and a huge symbolic victory for the enemy
7- Our economy has never fully recovered from 9/11 and is most threatened now by the politics of today
8- The rest of the world today never hates us or needs us as much as we think they do
9- The cowards of that day are not a representation of Muslims here or around the world
10- We must remain vigilant in reporting suspicious behavior we witness in our daily lives
11- We are not Republicans, Democrats, or Tea Partiers first. We are Americans.

It’s OFFICIAL!
THE NEW STEVE COCHRAN SHOW…weekdays 5-7pm…COMING MONDAY 10/3 to…
***and you can still hear me 10-noon and 6-9p daily on…
listen anytime I’m on at KTRS.COM
DAMN that’s a lot of airtime. No wonder I look tired.
Robert Feder at TIME OUT CHICAGO wrote about it here…
WIND clears Cochran for takeoff Oct. 3
Steve Cochran
In the month since Steve Cochran’s hiring was announced at Salem Communications conservative news/talk WIND-AM (560), reaction among his fans on Facebook and Twitter has ranged from positive to enthusiastic.
Except among those who fear he’ll suddenly turn into some sort of screaming right-wing nut job — or worse.
“My intention is to do what I do — which is to play it down the middle and point out what dumbasses are on both sides,” Cochran said. “I intend to live where I’ve always lived. I’m really looking forward to telling people the truth.”
Oct. 3 has been set as the start date for Cochran’s new show, which will air from 5 to 7pm Monday through Friday, replacing the syndicated Michael Savage.
Mark Masters, president and CEO of Talk Radio Network, which distributes Savage’s show, declined to comment when asked whether Savage will turn up elsewhere in the market after he leaves WIND at the end of the month.
Cochran, 50, who’s held a variety of Chicago radio jobs since 1993, spent 10 years at Tribune Co.-owned news/talk WGN-AM (720). Now WIND is banking on a large number of his fans following Cochran up the dial.
“We’re excited to have Steve join us,” Jeff Reisman, general manager of WIND, said in announcing the move. “Steve has a passion for politics and a love of Chicago that runs deep. We believe that this opportunity on WIND will bring out the best of what Steve has to offer.”
Since January, Cochran has been on the air in St. Louis, hosting two daily shifts — from 10am to noon and from 6 to 9pm — on KTRS-AM. He plans to continue to broadcast those shows from Chicago after he signs at WIND. “Essentially it leaves me six minutes of free time each afternoon,” he said, “unless I can shove another project in that window.”
Now that a start date has been fixed, plans for the new show can be completed. “A producer will be announced this week, but I’m also looking for a wardrobe consultant,” Cochran said. “Somebody to tell me whether to go with black golf shirt or the blue golf shirt. Unfortunately, I was informed I won’t be getting a hair stylist. That wasn’t part of the deal.”

Having trouble understanding the debt ceiling argument? Here are some handy helping ways to “get it”.
YOU MUST PUT OUT THE FIRE BEFORE YOU DECIDE WHAT CAUSED IT AND HOW TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN!
Still too complicated? Try this…
The Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote are the Dems and Repubs in D.C., alternately running from the debt ceiling problem and scheming to get their way…
We are WAY beyond who is right and who is wrong. We are out of time!
Republicans, Democrats, Tea Party members…you were elected to lead and great leaders compromise. Ask yourself. Do you want to be right? Or do you want to do the right thing?
People talk about the middle of the road as though it were unacceptable.
Actually, all human problems, excepting morals, come into the gray areas.
Things are not all black and white. There have to be compromises.
The middle of the road is all of the usable surface.
The extremes, right and left, are in the gutters.

May 22, 2011
My grandmother, Anna Sommers, died early this morning. She liked to tell people her age. 101…and 7 months.
She spent her entire life living in upstate New York mostly in and around Rochester. The last few years were spent in assisted and elder care at a great facility near Oswego.
Gram worked for Walgreens in administration in the 1930s at a time when women didn’t work. She was frustrated a few years ago, at age 98, from “sitting around all day” and told me that she should get a job.
She lost her oldest son when he was a teen due to a severe illness. She lost her husband to a car crash. She lost her middle son, my father, in 2003 to heart disease.
Even with all that pain she was a postive, spiritual, funny lady. A woman born in 1909 when cars were new and very rare and airplanes were just something you heard about in the news.
I tried to give my kids perspective on all that she saw by pointing out the timeline of her life.
-born in 1909
-she was 3 when the Titanic sailed and sunk
-she was 9 when WW1 ended
-she was 20 when the stock market crashed in 1929
-she was 36 when the greatest generation won the second World War
-she turned 50 the year that Alaska and Hawaii became states
-she turned 65 the month after Nixon resigned
-she was almost 92 on 9/11/2001
-…she was 11 when radio arrived, 30 when Network TV began, 64 when Microsoft introduced Windows, 74 when AOL was new and cool, and 98 when the iphone first shipped
-She and her little brother Bill took car trips around and across the country until just ten years ago.
Anna Sommers lived 37,100 days… 890,350 hours… 53,400,000 minutes and experienced almost all of the most dramatic, inventive, tumultuous century in history.
It was a heck of a run.
All of us who knew her will miss her very much. Thanks for the laughs, the lessons, and the love. Rest in Peace Gram. We love you.

A FEW THOUGHTS FROM A FEW FAMOUS PEOPLE

SATAN...SERIOUSLY...NO VIRGINS? WHAT ABOUT SOMEONE LIKE THAT WOMAN SCHWARZENEGGAR WAS DIDDLING...CAN OSAMA GET A SLICE OF THAT?...WAIT...WHAT IS THE GOAT IN THE SKIRT FOR?

CHARLIE SHEEN ISN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN’T GET ENOUGH
As of today all the problems of America have been solved. The reason I know this must be true is because the #1 “news” story from sea to shining sea is the Human Train Wreck…Charlie Sheen.
The former star of the inexplicably popular “Two and a Half Men” had more than 1 million Twitter followers just a day after joining the Tweet party. He has done interviews with every cable channel and broadcast channel. He has talked to radio shows, newspapers, and he will probably get to Grit and Weekly Reader next.
Each of these interviews has fallen into similar patterns. The nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind (Charlie) mildly interrupted by mostly softball questions (anchor, reporter, host) followed by empty analysis and the promise of MORE TO COME as this story unfolds. And if this story ends badly these hypocrites will report that as well and look deeply into the camera and sadly say how unfortunate it all is.
It’s pathetic…and I’m not just talking about Charlie Sheen.
Don Henley had a huge hit almost 30 years ago with “Dirty Laundry”. This was WAY before the internet, cell phone pictures, or the constant presence of the paparazzi. Henley and his co-writer Danny Kortchmar wrote;
“I make my living off the Evening News
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry”
So does that explain the behavior of just about everyone else?Charlie Sheen coming off the rails has become America’s #1 spectator sport.Do we really have nothing better to do?
What is most disturbing is the lack of basic decency. Why is it O.K. to soak up every awkward second of another human being spinning out of control?
Charlie Sheen has been acting like a jackass for years. His constant arrests and smirks about drugs and hooking up with hookers was plenty fun when we could mock him as just another Hollywood creep.
That’s not what’s going on here anymore.
Sheen has kidnapped a prostitute and destroyed a very expensive hotel room. His behavior was so dangerous and self-destructive that more than one porn actress says he was too wild for them. And that is just a portion of Chuck’s 2011 so far.
What has taken this to another level is Sheen’s attitude. He has actively sought out every media outlet that would talk to him to boast about his life…how he cured addiction with his mind…how he’s a rock star from Mars…how he has tiger blood and Adonis DNA.All of these whack-a-doodle statements are mixed with mocking those who choose AA as weak and spewing hate for his bosses at CBS.Charlie says his world is all-right all the time. It’s one unending party and the only one that doesn’t get it is US.
So before you drop everything to watch this Hollywood star crash and burn just a little bit more, check your to-do list for doing something productive with your time.Maybe start by picturing someone in your own life battling addiction and/or mental illness and see how you might feel if everyone was laughing at them.
In the end Sheen and his ex-wife have made their choices and have to live with the consequences. They have to want to live enough to save their own lives.Their two year old twin boys didn’t get to choose.Think about them before you hit send on your next “hilarious” tweet.
Charlie Sheen doesn’t need another TV interview or more followers on Twitter. He needs a ton of professional help.Meanwhile America needs something else…to leave him alone…and grow up.

MISSING PIECES
When you lose a friend your life seems less for awhile.
Yet I believe it would be a disservice to the memories of these three amazing people to stay in that place.
You know why Heaven is such a happy place? They have the best 3rd baseman, an expert on wines like no other, and a now a brilliant legal mind…
What all three leave behind are joyful memories and a legacy of lives led with optimism and dignity. However long they were with you they also left you wanting more.
Our lives are not less for losing them. Our lives are greater for knowing them.
